Where do you get your advice?

John Steinbeck said, “You know how advice is. You only want it if it agrees with what you wanted to do anyway.”

Grammy Winner Teaches Songwriting For Free

I have been blessed to have had a much more successful career in songwriting and music production, than I ever knew was possible. 2 Grammy Awards, 4 Dove Awards, Dozens of SESAC Awards, Billboard #1 Awards, and over 20 #1’s later, here I am.

This post has been long overdue, but I just wanted to write an article about something that doesn’t get talked about a lot today, and that is GRATITUDE.

Landing the Plane

There are a lot of pilots out there who can take off.

There are a lot of people out there who have dreams and ideas and are great at sending them off into space.

But the true skill is in Landing the plane. The ones who can land the plane and not just start an idea and then wash their hands of the responsibility and weight of finishing.

What we need is the commitment to see something through to the end. It’s better to finish one thing good than to start a thousand things great.

How to Win in a Label Showcase

We wanted to share with you a clip from a discussion we had recently with Brad O’Donnell, who runs A&R for a very powerful label in Nashville, TN, Capitol CMG.

We asked him this simple question: “What does it take for an artist to win at a label showcase?”

We thought this would be very valuable info for all you artists out there looking to get signed, and you’ll eventually have to play your first showcase for a label at some point.
